Founded in 1877, we are a registered charity which exists to safeguard the interests all pure and traditional breeds of poultry, both in Great Britain and throughout the world. As guardians of the 'British Poultry Standards', the club has a crucial role in safeguarding stock bloodlines which have been maintained for generations. The 6th edition of this book was published in July 2008. We are offering a discount for members, click here to download form.

The Poultry Club is responsible for running and organising the National Championship Show - the UK's Premier exhibition of poultry. Many of our members exhibit their birds at agricultural, club, and society shows throughout the year - competing for PCGB awards - and all of the UK poultry breeds can be seen at the majority of show societies which are affiliated to us.

The National Championship Show 2008 was held at Stoneleigh on Saturday 29th November and Sunday 30th November. This was very successful and enjoyed by exhibitors and visitors alike. For photos, click here.

We had a fantastically successful and enjoyable National Poultry Championship Show on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November, 2009 at Stoneleigh (CV8 2LZ).

The next show is on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th November, 2010, at the same venue.

The Poultry Club organises the Poultry Judges Panel and system of poultry judging examinations, as well as Poultry Proficiency exams for our many Junior member poultry keepers. We co-ordinate a national Ringing Scheme to help maintain accurate identification and pedigree records which will be vital for future reference and conservation of all breeds of poultry. The Helpline has been set up for those having difficulty with cockerels crowing, receiving complaints etc. Please quote your membership number if possible when contacting the Helpline.

Small quantities of the oral coccidiosis vaccine Paracox are available to bone fide members of the PCGB.  This information is published, together with an order form, in the PCGB Winter Newsletter. Contact the Secretary (info@poultryclub.org) if you would like an extra copy, remembering to order the Paracox in time for your first hatch.

Transport regulations have changed recently and in order to comply when taking birds to a show or elsewhere, it is recommended to print off and use the Transport Certficate.

This site will be invaluable to many school children and teachers, or poultry keeping beginners- please feel free to use it to supplement the learning experience, and be sure to visit our informative Poultry Education section.

Many of our members keep poultry purely for pleasure. Poultry keeping is a rewarding and valuable experience for old and young alike, and are a lovely and charming edition to a garden, back-yard or farm. All of the poultry breeds will provide companionship, eggs and meat, as well as being watchdogs, insect eaters, weeders and providers of rich nitrogenous fertiliser.

The Poultry Club of Great Britain is a valuable information provider, with publications and products to help educate about and facilitate poultry keeping. This site will be particularly interesting to those not able to keep poultry at home - you can still experience the pleasure of poultry. Similarly this site will be invaluable to many school children and teachers - please feel free to use it to supplement the learning experience, and be sure to visit our informative Education section.
