Show Preparation
Preparation may be 'the final act in putting your bird in front of the
judge' - but how do you prepare
your bird for a poultry show? Panel A judge and leading Wyandotte fancier, Jeffrey Hey
gives his
advice on how to wash your bird to a high standard. |

Stockmanship
Stockmanship is one of those attributes one either has or has not; it can
be learned but only by those in whom the rudiments already exist. In some ways the poor
stockman has a closed mind, seeing no reason why they should or even need to change their
approach to livestock. Dick Ricketts explains why the real stockperson starts their career
in the exhibition game with a distinct advantage. |

In Praise of Losers
Is winning all that matters when showing? Alan Dawson gives the 'losers'
the limelight for once - at the National Championship Show there were 5389 exhibits that
did not win a 1st prize! If it were not for the losers, the show would not be as
interesting or exciting. |
