EDUCATION
Flegg High School Flegg High School
is an 11-16 comprehensive school in Norfolk which has a thriving Agricultural Science Unit
with many pupils taking an active role in all aspects of poultry keeping. The school has
been grant maintained since 1993 and gained a Schools Curriculum Award 1995-1997. Head of
the Agricultural and Horticultural Science Unit, David Taylor, explains the school's
activities:
As far as the National Curriculum goes, poultry is useful in the LIFE sections of the Science course at Key Stage 3, certainly if the teacher wants to make the lesson more interesting. It is probably even more useful to Primary Schools at Key Stage 1 and 2. The school has loaned our incubators to other schools and have provided eggs and advice. We then take the young chicks and incubator back at a time convenient to the the other school." If you would like to use poultry to help enhance the learning experience of your students, or would like further details of Flegg High Schools activities you can contact The Poultry Club by email, or write to the Secretary, Ann Bachmet.
